Pre-order 2024 “Fortuna Redux” Zinfandel

Suisun Valley 2024 Zinfandel.

Sourced from 20 year old vineyard on a wind-swept hill in Mankas Corner, Suisun Valley. Grown by Roger King, a small grower who is obsessive in his care for his vineyard to the degree that he can tell you about the needs of each individual vine in a row.

Zinfandel is incredible expressive of both terroir and winemaking style. Our favorite expression of Zinfandel is one that showcases its vibrancy and elegance, something that has become so rare that most people have forgotten that Zinfandel can be anything but jammy and opulent. This is a Pinot-style Zinfandel, and we’re a fan of this style for a few reasons, one of which is that picking for fresh fruit rather than jamminess tends to supercharge Zinfandel’s incredible expressiveness of terroir. Fortuna Redux is a great demonstration of this – as a cold climate Zin, it has the Russian River’s signature delicacy as well as its emphasis on raspberry and red fruit over the blackberries and plums one finds in warmer climate Zin. Its crisp tartness ensures a long lingering finish, and is a sign of its suitability for pairing with food. Drinking this wine without food is like eating a peanut butter sandwich without jelly. It’s fine on its own but the combination is sublime. It is meant to be shared with friends over great meals.
